Belgian Beers

It seemed that everytime we ordered a round of beers (which was quite often), the ritual was to take a picture of it before drinking it. Like this.....

Which, in turn, resulted in these pics. Now, these are a small subset of the beer pics... but it gives you an taste of the variety of beers to be had. Also, one of the cool things about the beer in Belgium is that each one has it's own signature glass that it is served in.

1st Beer of the trip.

Followed immediately by this one.

We found a place in Ninove that serve cheese puffs with their beer.

On the 3rd night, we found the Leffe cafe. It carried all the
Leffe beers. We made sure to go back a couple times.

The Belgies pronounce this "o-arden"

Leffe 9..... It is probably a good thing for my
liver that this is not brought into the states.

It took some searching to find Westveleteren.
We found a place that had the 8 in the bottle.

The Nuns make beer as good at the Monks.

Dash's Fav beer of the trip.
Do you suppose that his choice in women has anything to do with it?

Trappist Westvleteren 12 is the holy grail of Belgian beers. The Monks that make it also make it very hard to get. I am not sure what happened to the one bottle we got. I blame Dash...... I am sure that as soon as I call Rich, he will as well.

I have been asked several times what my favorite beer was for the week. I am going to have to go with the Leffe 9. Dash's was the Mad Bitch. I never got Rich's choice.... but I would guess it was the Leffe 9 since he smuggled several of them back to the US in his bike case.
