CO kids already kicking some ass in Bend

So yesterday was the first day of Cross Nats in Bend.  They have some "warm up" races called the "B races of Nats" and check out who won yesterday

Men – Open – Non-championship – 40-99
Place Points Name City, State Time

1 150 Michael Robson Boulder, CO 0:42:31

2 135 Darron Cheek Breckenridge, CO 43:40

Now we know these guys race in the 35+/45+ field week in and week out.
Michael has won 7 races this year in 35+ and was 3rd in 35+ on Saturday.
Darron has been racing 45+ all year and has a win and is 6th in CO Cup Points.

Looks to be shaping up to be a great weekend for CO Cross once again.

  1. pretty sure these are not "warm up races" for people to sandbag as much as these are non-championship races for those who do not belong in the way of the faster riders taking part in the championship categories. so yeah, congrats to your buddy for sandbagging victory #8 on the season. he should feel good about that one.

  2. Hey rosey,
The post was more about CO guys/gals racing at nats. From the following over at CXMag:

The championship course got broken in today, albeit by the non-championship races. Commonly referred to as the “B races of Nats,” but with no category restrictions, racers will often use these as tune-ups for their main events.

Should those guys be racing that race? That is up to them. We already know they are fast, so I guess they needed the workout and the pair of tires that they gave to the winner is thier trophy?
